Thank you to all the sponsors and participants that helped to make the 2013 Polar Bear Plunge a splash! 102 plungers raised $16,000 for the Rec Center and in addition 11 teams raised a combined total of $4,200 for themselves!

Experience the joy of jumping into freezing Lake Superior through a hole in the ice! Hundreds of spectators will cheer your bravery and creativity. Prizes awarded to the best costumes and plunges including jewelry from Silverwaves! The Rittenhouse Inn will be selling it’s “classic Lake Superior fish chowder” to plunge spectators.
Plunger rewards:
Raise a minimum of $50 for an individual, $250 for a group.
Raise $100 or more and get the plunge hat, gloves or patch
Raise $200 get a free WinterDASH or Run on WATER entry
Raise $400 and get a free dinner at Maggie’s
Raise $500 and get an embroidered Polar Bear Plunge towel
TEAMS AND GROUPS - Plunge to raise your own money!!
Here's a simple way to earn some cash for your own non-profit. Do the plunge to raise money for your own organization. We provide the event, publicity and prizes. You provide the plungers and pledges. It’s much easier and more fun than a spaghetti dinner or magazine sale! Teams have raised over $2600 for themselves to keep the past 2 years.
-Teams that raise up to $999 keep 50% of their funds.
-Teams that raise $1000-2999 keep 60% of their funds.
-Teams that raise over $3000 keep 70% of their funds

The Polar Bear Plunge is one of the biggest fundraisers for the Bayfield Area Recreation Center. Top fundraisers get the best prizes, including gift certificates, massages and other great stuff.
Costumes, skits, presentations, speeches, announcements and wedding vows are all encouraged (but not required) prior to plunging. Prizes are awarded for best costumes and creativity.
The Bayfield Rec Center is a true community center for the Apostle Islands region, hosting 30,000 visits a year. Featuring an indoor pool, fitness room and racquetball court, the Rec Center is a vital place for our youth, seniors and the health and wellness of this rural area. Thank you for supporting our Rec Center.
